Recently FINCA Microfinance Bank Tanzania Limited (FINCA Tanzania) proudly inaugurated its new branch offices in Mwanza. Recognizing the significance of this occasion, the management of FINCA Tanzania seized the opportunity to boost awareness of the bank and its offerings, particularly within the Mwanza region.

The launch event was graced by the esteemed presence of Honorable Amina Makilagi, District Commissioner of Nyamagana, representing the Regional Commissioner of Mwanza as the guest of honour. Also in attendance were Ms. Nasama Massinda, Chairperson of FINCA Tanzania’s Board of Directors; Mr. Jeff Smith, the representative of FINCA International Shareholders; representatives of FINCA clients; as well as the management and staff of FINCA Tanzania. The occasion was as well attended by members of the business community, and other stakeholders in financial services.

This event marked a significant milestone in FINCA’s commitment to providing easily accessible financial services and fostering economic development in Tanzania. It underscored FINCA’s dedication to expanding its footprint to serve communities across the country.

In his address, Mr. Edward Talawa, CEO of FINCA Tanzania, expressed gratitude to the Tanzanian government, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders for their unwavering support. He reiterated FINCA’s mission of alleviating poverty and empowering individuals and businesses to access financial solutions and services in a user-friendly and innovative manner. Mr. Talawa highlighted the historical significance of the Mwanza region, where FINCA Tanzania officially commenced its operations 26 years ago on May 4, 1998, as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) offering loans only. Since then, the institution has evolved into a full-fledged bank since 2013, offering a diverse range of financial services through a network of 21 branches, over 150 agents, and through digital platforms.

Mr. Jeff Smith, representative of FINCA shareholders, expressed satisfaction with FINCA Tanzania’s performance, particularly its strides in digital financial services. He emphasized that FINCA Tanzania’s success in digital financial service utilization has served as a model for other FINCA subsidiaries worldwide, contributing significantly to the network’s overarching goals.

Ms. Nasama Massinda, Chairperson of FINCA Tanzania’s Board of Directors, underscored the importance of collaboration between FINCA and various stakeholders, including government agencies, in fostering economic growth and inclusive financial services. She commended the efforts of the Board of Directors and bank management in ensuring the successful launch of the new branch and the overall performance of FINCA.

Honourable Amina Makilagi, District Commissioner of Nyamagana, echoed the significance of financial services in driving social and economic development. She pledged the government’s steadfast support for FINCA Bank and urged the citizens to leverage the opportunities offered by the new branch. Additionally, she conveyed her genuine appreciation for FINCA Tanzania’s positive impact on the economic growth of the Mwanza region. She recognized FINCA’s commitment to fairness towards its clients, a quality not commonly found among other financial institutions in the region.
